The smallest pack in our ‘bushwalking light’ range, the Umbra weighs a measly 1.2 kilograms. Load it with a One Planet Gunyah tent (1.1 kilograms) and Stowaway sleeping bag (0.5 kilograms) and laugh as you skip along, barely noticing your 2.8 kilogram pack.
The Umbra is made from our new, light 200 gsm canvas and given the One Planet canvas seam-binding treatment, making it much more resistant to UV rays and the weather than similar nylon packs. The Mini harness is designed for loads up to 15 kilograms, which should allow you to fill its 45 litres with comfort. The side compression-straps incorporate hook buckles for attaching the optional daypack as a front pocket, daypack or front pack – you choose.
 
There are lighter pack fabrics out there. However, our 200 gsm canvas ticks all the boxes for Australian and New Zealand bushwalking: high UV and water resistance, as well as reasonable scrub resistance.

WBA is One Planet's answer to a lightweight, full-sized pack, and it lives up to its moniker: it weighs bugger all. The WBA’s 200 gsm, lightweight canvas is heavier than faddy, ultralight nylon fabrics, but also much tougher, providing greater resistance to UV rays, the weather, and general wear and tear. There is also a bottle pocket behind each wing of the hipbelt.
Canvas-bound seams keep the water out, while the optional daypack can be easily attached to the front or back of the rucksack – an ingenious addition, and very handy for side trips. The Exact Fit harness is designed for loads of up to 25 kilograms, making the WBA well-suited to extended trips. (Eight harness fits are available, and the pack comes in three capacities: 55, 60 and 65 litres.)

The Shadow weighs less than the WBA, and has a slightly smaller capacity (53, 56 or 60 litres), but is made from the same tough, light, 200 gsm canvas. This fabric gives the Shadow two key advantages over a nylon pack: greater resistance to the sun and the weather, especially when One Planet canvas seam-binding is used.
The Midi harness comes in three fits and is fully adjustable, suitable for loads of up to 20 kilograms – perfect for long weekends. The Shadow has the same innovative hook buckles as the WBA, allowing the optional daypack to be attached and used as a front pocket, daypack or front pack. There is also a bottle pocket behind each wing of the hipbelt.
