One Planet Polar gear has been developed as a joint venture between One Planet and the Australian and New Zealand governments' Antarctic organisations to ensure it suits the exact requirements of their scientific research programs.
Developed as our polar workhorse, the polar pack is designed to be as versatile as possible. The main compartment can be removed from the harness system, enabling multiple different inserts (search and rescue, personal survival, scientific equipment, etc) to be used with the rucksack. Inserts can be pre-packed with the required gear, so packing is so simple: slip in the necessary insert, toss in a few additional things and away you go! The pack can be used with or without the lid.
Standard features include:
adjustable harness (two sizes) with durable, non-absorbent contact fabric and dual-density foams;
non-slip webbing on shoulder straps and hipbelt;
lid, underlid and front pocket;
one water-bottle pouch on either side of hipbelt;
twin ice axe loops, stake holders and ski mounts.
This product can also be made without the use of Velcro (TM).
Pack inserts are made from 1000 denier nylon or 12-ounce canvas and are available in three sizes. Approximate volumes are:
